ゴツァ湖は中国のチベット自治区の氷河湖で、崑崙山脈の西部、新疆ウイグル自治区の近傍に位置し、チベット高原の標高5,080mにあります。チベット高原はユーラシア大陸の中央部に広がる世界最大級の高原で、高度は3,500~5,500mに広がり、「世界の屋根」と呼ばれています。

ゴツァ湖ではないですが、チベット高原の典型的な地上の様子、ヤムドク湖の様子はこちらです。

Astronaut on board ISS captured the glaciers in the Kunlun Mountains and south of which lies the partially frozen Gozha Co on the Tibetan Plateau.

Guozha Lake, or Gozha Co, also known as Lake Lighten, is a glacial lake in Rutog County in the Ngari Prefecture in the northwest of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It lies in the western Kunlun Mountains to the northwest of Bangda Lake, not far from the regional border with Xinjiang. Located at an altitude of 5,080m, it covers an area of 244km2 with a maximum depth of 81.9 metres and its drainage basin contains 62 glaciers. The Tibetan Plateau is a vast elevated plateau in Central Asia, covering most of the Tibet Autonomous Region and Qinghai in western China. It is the world’s highest and largest plateau, and is often referred to as “the Roof of the World.”
