Cyclone Amphan became the strongest storm ever recorded in the Bay of Bengal and the first super cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal since the 1999 Odisha cyclone, which tragically killed more than 9,000 people. More than 2 million people across 2 countries were evacuated ahead of the cyclone, but he evacuation efforts have been complicated by the coronavirus pandemic. It has since weakened to the equivalent of a Category 2 Atlantic hurricane. #Kolkata #Dacca
