[:ja]イワン・ワグナー宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したカザフスタンのバイコヌール宇宙基地です。2020年6月2日は同基地の設立65周年でした。

バイコヌール宇宙基地は、カザフスタン共和国のチュラタムにあるロシアのロケット発射場で、現在、ロシア連邦宇宙局が管理しています。赤道直下から真東に発射されたロケットは地球の自転遠心力を最も効率よく利用できるという理由から、射場の位置はできる限り低緯度が好ましいとされる中、同基地は北緯45度36分という、やや高緯度に位置する射場です。

Baikonur Cosmodrome is a spaceport located in an area of southern Kazakhstan leased to Russia. The spaceport is located in the desert steppe of Baikonur. The spaceport is currently leased by the Kazakh Government to Russia until 2050, and is managed jointly by the Roscosmos State Corporation and the Russian Aerospace Forces. Both Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite, and Vostok 1, the first human spaceflight, were launched from Baikonur.
