レッサースレーブ湖はアルバータ州州都エドモントンから北西に約200kmほどの場所に位置しています。湖は東西方向に100km、南北に15kmほどの細長い形状で、平均水深は11.4mほどです。湖は南岸と北東岸の砂浜が有名です。また、レッサースレーブ湖は渡り鳥が渡りに利用する経路に当たっており、白鳥や水鳥などの渡り鳥の休息地としても知られています。

Lesser Slave Lake is located in central Alberta, Canada, northwest of Edmonton, measuring over 100km long and 15km wide, and 11.4m deep in average. The lake is known for the sandy beaches on its south and northeast shores. It is an important staging and feeding area for tundra swans and other waterfowl and is the site of Canada’s northernmost migration monitoring facility. Due to its location on a major fly-way for migrating birds, Lesser Slave Lake is popular with birders.
