[Earthview Wonders] No.1082: Earth and Moon
On July 27, 2020, China’s first Mars probe Tianwen-1, which means Questions to Heaven, captured Earth and Moon simultaneously on its way to Mars. In the black-and-white image taken from 1.2 million km from Earth, the Earth and the Moon were both crescent-shaped. The probe has now escaped the earth’s gravity and entered the Earth-Mars transfer orbit, travelling more than 1.5 million km away from the Earth.
