[Earthview Wonders] No.1111: Anticosti Island (L’Île-d’Anticosti)🇨🇦
Astronaut Luca Parmitano captured from ISS Anticosti Island (L’Île-d’Anticosti), Quebec, Canada.

Anticosti Island is located at the outlet of the Saint Lawrence River into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. At 7,892.52km2 in size, it is the 90th largest island in the world and 20th largest island in Canada. Anticosti Island is larger than Prince Edward Island but sparsely populated (240 people in 2011), with most of the permanent population in the village of Port-Menier on the western tip of the island, consisting chiefly of the keepers of the lighthouses erected by the Canadian government. Because of its untamed wilderness and abundant wildlife, Anticosti Island attracts many tourists for hunting, fishing, and other outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, horseback riding, nature viewing and sea kayaking. Also, due to more than 400 shipwrecks off its coasts, Anticosti Island is sometimes called the “Cemetery of the Gulf”.
The local scenery on the ground is as follows.
