[:ja]NASAの地球観測衛星Suomi NPPが2012年に撮影した、ディワリ祭開催中の夜のインドです。
ディワリはインドのお正月で、10月末から11月初めのインド暦の第七番目の月の初めの日から5日間にわたり、一年の幸福を祈り、お祝いをするヒンズー教最大のお祭りです。
光の祭典とも言われ、インド各地で花火や爆竹を鳴らしてお祝いします。こちらは今年のヴァラナシの様子です。

NASA’s Suomi NPP captures in 2012 India during 5 day Diwali Festival.
Diwali marks the beginning of new year in Hindu Vikram Samvat calendar, and is the largest Hindu festival held for 5 days every year in autumn.
Diwali is also called “the festival of lights” celebrated with numerous fireworks and firecrackers. This is one of the scenes on the ground in Varanasi or Benares.
