[:ja]NASAの地球観測衛星Landsat 8が撮影した米アラスカのジュノー氷原です。
ジュノー氷原は、ジュノー北方にあり、カナダのブリティッシュコロンビア州との境界まで広がっています。北アメリカで5番目に大きい氷原であり、海岸山地にあり、南北140km、東西75kmに広がっています。この氷原から流出している氷河数は主なもので40、小さいものも含めると100にもなりますが、主要なものでは、タク氷河やメンデンホール氷河などがあります。NASAによると、タク氷河は過去40年ほどで後退しなかった唯一の氷河でしたが、直近のデータでは、質量が小さくなったことが明らかになりました。

NASA’s Landsat 8 satellite captured Juneau Icefield, Alaska, U.S.
The Juneau Icefield is an ice field located just north of Juneau, Alaska, continuing north through the border with British Columbia, Canada. The icefield is the source of many glaciers including the Mendenhall Glacier and the Taku Glacier. The icefield is home to over 40 large valley glaciers and 100 smaller ones. According to NASA, for nearly 4 decades, of 250 glaciers, all had retreated (or shortened) except one: Taku Glacier. Now a new analysis shows that Taku has lost mass and joined the rest of the retreating glaciers.
