ブレシア（ブレーシャ）は、イタリア北部ロンバルディア州にある人口約20万人の基礎自治体です。ローマ時代にはブリクシアと呼ばれ、アルプス以北との交易で栄えた歴史を持ちます。市内には古代から中世にかけての遺跡や歴史的建築物が多く残っており、ランゴバルド王国が遺した修道院はユネスコの世界遺産に登録されています。中世以来の金属加工と武器製造の伝統を有し、今日では、ブレシアはイタリア有数の工業地帯の中心都市であり、機械工業や自動車エンジニアリング、工作機械工業が盛んです。また、ガルダ湖やイゼーオ湖、アルプス山脈に向かう観光客を相手にした産業でも潤っています。

Brescia is a city and comune in the region of Lombardy in northern Italy, situated at the foot of the Alps. Founded over 3,200 years ago, Brescia (in antiquity Brixia) has been an important regional centre since pre-Roman times. Its old town contains the best-preserved Roman public buildings in northern Italy and numerous monuments, among these the medieval castle, the Old and New cathedral, the Renaissance Piazza della Loggia and the rationalist Piazza della Vittoria. Today, Brescia is considered to be an important industrial city. The metallurgy and the production of machine tools and firearms are of particular economic significance, along with mechanical and automotive engineering.
