The Coast Mountains are part of a larger mountain system called the Pacific Coast Ranges or the Pacific Mountain System, which includes the Cascade Range, the Insular Mountains, the Olympic Mountains, the Oregon Coast Range, the California Coast Ranges, the Saint Elias Mountains and the Chugach Mountains. The mountain range’s name derives from its proximity to the sea coast, and it is often referred to as the Coast Range. Other than logging and a large ski resort at the resort town of Whistler, most of the land in the range is completely undeveloped. Whistler is a resort municipality in the southern Pacific Ranges of the Coast Mountains in the province of British Columbia, Canada, approximately 125km north of Vancouver and 36km south of the town of Pemberton. Over 2 million people visit Whistler annually, primarily for alpine skiing and snowboarding and, in summer, mountain biking at Whistler Blackcomb.

The local scenery on the ground is as follows.
