[:ja]セルゲイ・クド-スべルチコフ宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したオーストラリアのシドニー・コーブです。1月26日に投稿されました。

オーストラリアの日（Australia Day）は、毎年1月26日にオーストラリアで祝われる国民の祝日で、Anniversary DayやFoundation Day、若しくはANA Dayとも呼ばれます。1788年1月26日に植民を目的としたイギリスの艦隊がシドニー・コーブに到着した事に因んで定められました。数十年間は認知されていませんでしたが、1818年にニューサウスウェールズ州の知事ラックラン・マッコーリーが祭典を開いた事で定着した。1994年には全土で祭典が開かれる様になり、音楽演奏会も行われ、首相の声明文も読まれます。現在では広く支持されているものの、アボリジニやその擁護者達からは批判的な声も聞かれます。

Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Observed annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet at Port Jackson in New South Wales, and the raising of the British flag at Sydney Cove by Arthur Phillip. In present-day Australia, celebrations aim to reflect the diverse society and landscape of the nation and are marked by community and family events, reflections on Australian history, official community awards and citizenship ceremonies welcoming new members of the Australian community. The meaning and significance of Australia Day has evolved and been contested over time, and not all states have celebrated the same date as their date of historical significance. Some Indigenous Australian events are now included. However, since at least 1938, the date of Australia Day has also been marked by Indigenous Australians, and those sympathetic to the cause, mourning what is seen as the invasion of the land by the British and the start of colonisation, protesting its celebration as a national holiday.
