2021年3月23日、アジアとヨーロッパを結ぶ海上交通の要衝、エジプトのスエズ運河で大型のコンテナ船が座礁しました。運河を管理するスエズ運河庁がコンテナ船を動かすための作業を続けた結果、コンテナ船は3月29日に離礁に成功し、運河の途中にある係留場所に移動しました。船の渋滞が解消するまでには数週間かかる見込みと報道されていましたが、運河当局の発表によると、4月5日時点で渋滞は解消されています。

Astronaut Soichi Noguchi captured from ISS heavy ship traffic congestion near Suez, Egypt.
A giant container ship has become wedged across Egypt’s Suez Canal during a sandstorm, blocking one of the world’s busiest trade routes. After an operation involving tug boats and dredging, the vessel is fully refloated and heading north. It was expected to take several weeks before ship traffic congestion gets cleared, but it was announced by the canal authorities that on April 5 that the last ships stranded by the giant container vessel that was stuck in the Suez Canal have now passed through the waterway.
