[:ja]イワン・ワグナー宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したベネズエラのエンジェル滝（現地名 Kerepakupai merú および Parakupa-vena）です。滝自体は雲がかかっていますが、画像中央付近の白いケレパクパイ・メル川の左方にあります。
エンジェルフォールは、南アメリカ大陸北部のギアナ高地にある世界最大級の滝で、ボリバル州グランサバナのカナイマ国立公園内に所在します。世界最大の落差979m（岩にぶつかることなく直下する距離は807m）をもつ滝として有名です。滝のスペイン語名・英語名等は、その存在を世界に向けて大々的に紹介した最初の人物である、アメリカ人探検飛行家ジミー・エンジェルの名にちなんで付けられました。ギアナ高地にある最大のテプイ（ギアナ高地のテーブルトップマウンテン）であるアウヤンテプイから流れ落ちる。落差が非常に大きいため、落下する水は滝下部に達するより前に分散して空気と絡み合い、滝下部は暴風雨のようになっているため滝壺が存在しません。

[Earthview Wonders] No.1294: Angel Falls, Venezuela🇻🇪
Astronaut Ivan Vagner captured from ISS the Angel Falls (Kerepakupai Merú or Parakupá Vená), Venezuela which is just covered with clouds. The location is a little left of the Kerepacupai Merú River which can be spotted with short white line near the middle of the image.
Angel Falls is the world’s tallest uninterrupted waterfall, with a height of 979m and a plunge of 807m. They are named after Jimmie Angel, a U.S. aviator, who was the first person to fly over the falls. The waterfall drops over the edge of the Auyán-tepui mountain in the Canaima National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Gran Sabana region of Bolívar State. The height figure, 979m, mostly consists of the main plunge but also includes about 400m of sloped cascade and rapids below the drop and a 30m high plunge downstream of the talus rapids.
