[Earthview Wonders] No.1304: Italy Republic Day🇮🇹
Astronaut Thomas Pesquet captured from ISS Rome, the capital of Italy. June 2 commemorates the institutional referendum held by universal suffrage in 1946, in which the Italian people were called to the polls to decide on the form of government following the Second World War and the fall of Fascism.

With just less than 3 million residents, Rome is the country’s most populated comune. The Vatican City is an independent country inside the city boundaries of Rome, the only existing example of a country within a city: for this reason Rome has been often defined as capital of two states. From the image Tevere River can be recognized to run north-south direction. For its beauty Rome was called The Eternal City by the Roman poet Tibullus in the 1st century BC and the expression has since been famous.
The local scenery on the ground is as follows.
