[:ja]NASAの地球観測衛星Aquaが捉えたイランの首都テヘランの深刻な大気汚染です。周囲と明らかに異なる灰色のスモッグが都市を覆っています。11月上旬には、大気汚染が原因で過去1ヶ月間に400人以上が死亡し、11月17日には市全体で学校閉鎖を実施したと報告されています。
大気汚染の原因は人口増加に起因する自動車の排気ガスに加えて、冬場には周囲の山と暖かい空気が、市内の冷たく汚染された空気を閉じ込める地理的要因によるものです。

NASA’s Aqua satellite captured the serious air pollution of Tehran, Iran. Clearly obvious gray-color smog casts over the city. Heavy smog in Tehran broke records in the beginning of November, and more than 400 people have died due to air pollution over the past month and the city closed schools on Nov. 17.
The cause of serious smog pertains to the increased population and motor vehicles, and unique geography of mountains and warm air enclosing the colder, denser, smog-laden air in winter.
