[:ja]トマ・ペスケ宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したオーストラリアのグレートバリアリーフです。
グレートバリアリーフは、オーストラリア北東岸に広がる世界最大のサンゴ礁地帯で、2,600kmを超える長さに2,900以上の暗礁群と約900の島が存在します。グレートバリアリーフは、危急種や絶滅危惧種などに相当する固有種等、多くの生命にとって安住の地でもあります。

Astronaut Thomas Pesquet captured from ISS the Great Barrier Reef, Australia.
The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,300km off the coast of Queensland, Australia. It supports a wide diversity of life and was selected as a World Heritage Site in 1981. A March 2016 report stated that coral bleaching was more widespread than previously thought, seriously affecting the northern parts of the reef as a result of warming ocean temperatures.
