[:ja]セルゲイ・クド-スべルチコフ宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影した米アラスカ州のデナリ山です。
デナリは北アメリカ大陸の最高峰で標高は6,190m、山名は、英語由来のマッキンリー山（Mt.McKinley、1897年当時の大統領ウィリアム・マッキンリーにちなんだ）と長らく並立していましたが、2015年より近隣に住むコユコン族の言葉で「高きもの」「偉大なるもの」を意味する「Deenaalee、デナリ」が正式な呼称となりました。デナリはエベレストよりも大きな山体と比高を持ちます。エベレストの標高はデナリより2700mも高いですが、チベット高原からの比高は3700m程度に過ぎず、一方、デナリはふもとの平地の標高は600m程度であり、そこからの比高は5500mに達します。

Astronaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov captured from ISS Denali, Alaska, U.S.
Denali is the highest mountain peak in North America, with a summit elevation of 6,190m. The Koyukon people who inhabit the area have referred to the peak as “Denali” for centuries. In 1896, a gold prospector named it “Mount McKinley” in support of then-presidential candidate William McKinley. In 2015, the U.S. government announced the change of the official name of the mountain to Denali.
