[:ja]トマ・ペスケ宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したフランスのカンヌです。
カンヌは、フランス南東部、地中海に臨むコート・ダジュール（Côte d’Azur）にあり、ニース（Nice）に次ぐリゾート地です。ニースの西南約30kmに位置しています。中世から19世紀頭までは、農業、水産業を中心とする村落でしたが、1834年、イギリスのヘンリー・ブルーム男爵がイタリアへの途上で滞在し、カンヌに土地を購入してヴィラを建設し、没するまで住みました。これをきっかけとしてイギリスの上流階級がこの地域に別荘を建てはじめ、次第に高級リゾート地へと発展しました。近郊10kmのアンティーブ（Antibes）には、ピカソが住んだグリマルディ城（Chateau Grimadi）があり、現在ピカソ美術館（Picasso Museum）となっています。毎年5月のカンヌ国際映画祭の開催地として、世界的に有名です。

Cannes is a city located on the French Riviera. It is a commune located in the Alpes-Maritimes department, and host city of the annual Cannes Film Festival, Midem, and Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. The city is known for its association with the rich and famous, its luxury hotels and restaurants, and for several conferences. Henry Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham and Vaux bought land at the Croix des Gardes and constructed the villa Eleonore-Louise. His work to improve living conditions attracted the English aristocracy, who also built winter residences. At the end of the 19th century, several railways were completed, which prompted the arrival of streetcars.
