マダガスカルでは、2023年1月22日に上陸したサイクロン・チェネソでも大規模な洪水が起きて、55人が死亡、10万人を超える人たちが被災しました。その後、
2月5日、サイクロン・バッシライがマダガスカル東部に上陸し、数十人が死亡、東部のノシバリカでは建物の95％が倒壊し、家を失った人は国全体で4万7800人に上ると報告されています。国連のWFP（世界食糧計画）によると、収穫期にサイクロンが相次いだことで食料価格が高騰し、食料をはじめ国際社会の支援が急務になっています。

NASA’s Terra satellite captured the severe floods in northwestern Madagascar.
On Jan. 22, 2023, tropical Storm Cheneso made a landfall in northwestern Madagascar, killing dozens of people and displacing tens of thousands from their homes. As can be seen from the image, a slow-moving storm has swamped the area with rain, triggering flash flooding and landslides. Unfortunately, second storm landed on Feb. 5, 2023, causing additional considerable damage to people and infrastructure.
