[:ja]大西宇宙飛行士が撮影した、ヨーロッパ大陸とアフリカ大陸を隔てるジブラルタル海峡です。「ヘラクレスの柱」とも呼ばれ、北はイベリア半島のスペイン及びイギリス領ジブラルタル、南はモロッコです。
地中海の出入口を抑える戦略的要衝の地として軍事上・海上交通上、重要視されてきました。現在もイギリス軍が駐屯しています。

[Earthview Wonders] No.174: Gibraltar Strait🇬🇮
Astronaut Takuya Onishi captured the Gibraltar Strait which separates European Continent from African Continent. Also known as “Pillars of Hercules”, the strait sees Spain and UK’s Gibraltar to the north and Morocco to the south.
The strait functions as the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea and has been strategically important location.
