[:ja]トーマス・ペスケット宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したエチオピアのタナ湖です。

タナ湖はエチオピア北西にある淡水湖で、エチオピア最大の湖で青ナイル川(白ナイル川とともにナイル川の支川を形成)の源流です。
深さは最大15m、面積は約3000km2で、海抜1800m。37の小さな島が点在、それらの島に計29の修道院が散在しています。 漁業を支える魚類の7割が固有種です。

Freshwater Lake Tana is Ethiopia’s largest lake and is the source of the Blue Nile (With the White Nile, the river becomes one of the two major tributaries of the Nile).
With 15m depth, 3000km2 area and located at 1800m altitude, Lake Tana has 37 islands on which 29 monasteries sporadically exist. About 70% of the fish species in the lake are endemic.
