[:ja]トーマス・ペスケット宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影した地中海のフランス領、コルシカ島です。地中海では、シチリア島、サルデーニャ島、キプロス島に次いで4番目に大きく、約30万人の人口を擁します。
沿岸部の気候は他の地中海沿岸地域と同様、年中温暖で少雨ですが、山岳地域は冷涼多雨で冬季には雪が積もり、スキー場が4箇所あります。
コルシカ住民は文化や言語の面で、大陸部のフランス本土とは異なった面を持っています。現在の住民の日常語はフランス語ですが、コルシカ語も依然として、学校教育やテレビ・ラジオ放送、広告・商標、文化活動などで盛んに用いられています。近年はコルシカにおけるアイデンティティの高まりにより、コルシカの文化やこれを基盤にした芸術などを見直すさまざまな活動が行われています。

Astronaut Thomas Pesquet captured from ISS Corsica, the French territory and fourth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea after Sicily, Sardinia and Cyprus, with about 300,000 population.
Coastal regions are characterized by hot-summer Mediterranean climate while higher elevation locations of cold-summer Mediterranean climate with 4 ski areas.
Corsica’s culture is different from France. While French is spoken as an official language, Corsican is also widely spoken and is taught at school, used in TV, radio, etc. In the recent years, various activities to re-value Corsican culture are put into action.
