[:ja]NASAの宇宙探査機カッシーニが土星の氷の環の間から撮影した地球の姿です。土星は地球から8.6天文単位（1天文単位＝太陽と地球の平均距離、1.49*10^11km）離れており、地球は白い点として見えています。もう少し詳細に分析すると、画像でカッシーニに正対しているのは南大西洋です。
ちなみに、カッシーニは、NASAと欧州宇宙機関ESAが1997年に打上げた土星探査機です。今年の9月にカッシーニ本体を土星の大気圏に突入させて運用を終了する予定です。

Saturn is 8.6AU (AU(Astronomical Unit), 1.49*10^11km, the average distance between the Earth and the Sun) away from Earth which is seen as a mere white dot. Closer look pinpoints the part of Earth facing Cassini was southern Atlantic Ocean.
Cassini is a spacecraft sent to Saturn in 1997. It is planned to be destroyed by diving into Saturn’s atmosphere in September 2017.
