1200万人超の人口を有する大阪都市圏は関西の経済・文化の中心地で、古都・副都としての歴史を持ちます。豊臣氏が滅んだ大坂夏の陣で大坂は荒廃しましたが、江戸幕府によって水路が発達し、水の都として復興した大坂は日本全国の物流が集中する経済・商業の中心地となり、「天下の台所」と呼ばれて繁栄しました。堂島米会所では世界で最初の先物取引が行われました。

Osaka is the capital city of western Japan and is the second largest metropolitan area in Japan with over 12 million inhabitants. Situated at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay, the city serves as a major economic hub for the country. Historically a merchant city, Osaka has also been known as the “nation’s kitchen” and served as a center for the rice trade during the Edo period.
Osaka at night is very energetic as seen below.
