マタラ（マータラ）はスリランカの南部州マータラ県の都市で、同国の最南端に位置しています。5月末のモンスーンによってもたらされた48時間に及ぶ連続降雨により、死者は224人に達し、いまだに80人が行方不明となっています。家屋の全損と分損の被害は1万3千を数えました。

ESA’s Sentinel-2 satellite captrued the floods of Matara, Sri Lanka (false color).
Matara is a major city in Sri Lanka, on the southern coast of Sourthern Province. The monsoon in late May brought 48 hours of nonstop rain which caused 224 deaths, 80 still missing, and over 13,000 full and partial house damage.
