カスピ海の面積は約37万平方キロで、日本とほぼ同じ面積です。2013年時点で、カスピ海沿岸5カ国（ロシア南部・カザフスタン・トルクメニスタン・イラン・アゼルバイジャン）の天然ガスの確認可採埋蔵量は46.4%、生産量が27.4%と大きな数字となっています。

Caspian Sea covers 374,000km2, equivalent of Japan. As of 2013, Caspian 5 countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Azerbaijan) account for a significant amount of 46.4% of the proven recoverable reserves of the world, and 27.4% of the production.
