[:ja]油井亀美也宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したアラブ首長国連邦とホルムズ海峡の夜景です。画像では北東のイラン側から同国を眺めており、光の集まりは右がアブダビ、左がドバイ、奥がアル・アインです。

アラブ首長国連邦（UAE）は、アラビア半島のペルシア湾（アラビア湾）に面した地域に位置する7つの首長国からなる連邦国家です。国土の大部分は、平坦な砂漠地帯であり、南部には砂丘も見られます。ホルムズ海峡に近いということで、地政学上、原油輸送の戦略的立地にあります。

[Earthview Wonders] No.303: UAE🇦🇪

Astronaut Kimiya Yui captured from ISS the beautiful night view of United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Strait of Hormuz. The image looks at UAE from Iran side and light clusters to the right is Abu Dhabi, to the left is Dubai, and the the one that forms a triangle with these two emirates is Al Ain.

The UAE is a federation of seven emirates (Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain), and was established on Dec. 2, 1971. It is bordered by the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, and is in a strategic location slightly south of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital transit point for world crude oil. The UAE’s oil reserves are the seventh-largest in the world while its natural gas reserves are the world’s seventeenth-largest.
