[:ja]宇宙探査機カッシーニは9月15日に土星大気圏に突入し、打ち上げから20年の長いミッションを終えました。カッシーニはNASAと欧州宇宙機関ESAが1997年に打上げた土星探査機で、45万枚の画像の撮影や、土星の衛星タイタンでホイヘンス・プローブによる大気の組成・風速・気温・気圧等の直接観測を行うなど、20年間数々の偉業を成し遂げてきました。
こちらは2013年7月に撮影された、土星の氷の環の間から撮影した地球の姿です。土星は地球から8.6天文単位（1天文単位＝太陽と地球の平均距離、1.49*10^11km）離れており、地球は輪の右下の青白い点として見えています。

On Sept. 15, Cassini space probe plunged into Saturn and ended its 20-year long mission. Cassini is a NASA/ESA space probe launched in 1997 and made numerous achievements including 450,000 images and landing its Huygens probe on Titan, Saturn’s largest moon, to obtain various data.
This is the image of Earth from Saturn, a glimpse captured by Cassini 8.6AU from Earth. The Earth is a pale blue dot shown just below the rings of Saturn.
