[:ja]パオロ・ネスポリ宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したチュニジアのジェルバ島です。
ジェルバ島チュニジア南部、ガベス湾内にある北アフリカでもっとも大きな島です。地中海性気候ですが、地中海とサハラ砂漠からの空気が混じり合う交差路にあたるため、半乾燥気候の傾向があります。また、ギリシア神話の英雄で、ホメロスの叙事詩「オデュッセイア」の主人公でもあるオデッセウスが上陸した島であるとされて、紀元前587年頃からカルタゴ人が数度来訪しました。

Djerba is the largest island of North Africa, located in the Gulf of Gabès, off the coast of Tunisia, with a mild climate for the region and fertile soil. Legend has it that Djerba was the island of the lotus-eaters where Odysseus was stranded on his voyage through the Mediterranean.
