[:ja]トマ・ペスケ宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したメキシコのマリンチェ火山です。

マリンチェ山(4,461m)は、第5の高峰の休火山で、3100年ほど休止状態となっています。マリンチェは、アステカ王国の征服時にスペイン軍のエルナン・コルテスの通訳を務め、後に結婚した地元女性の名前です。

La Malinche mountain is 4,461m high, the 5th highest in the country and is an inactive volcano (dormant for the last 3,100 years). The current name Malinche or Malintzin, in honor of the woman who helped Hernán Cortés as an interpreter during the conquest of the Aztec Empire, became popular during the 17th century.
