[:ja]大西卓哉宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影した黒海と西側の緑色のドナウデルタです。画像では雲に隠れたクリミア半島も見えています。
ドナウ・デルタ は、ルーマニアとウクライナにまたがる、ヨーロッパ最大にして人の手がほとんど入っていない、自然状態の三角州（デルタ）です。1991年にユネスコの世界遺産に登録されました。
ドナウ川によって運び込まれる多量の土砂は、デルタの幅を年に40mほど拡大し続け、その姿を大きく変え続けています。デルタの無数の湖や沼地は、45種の淡水魚に加えて、300種の鳥類、更に1,200を越える植物の亜種を擁し、冬には百万種を超える鳥類がやってきます。

Astronaut Takuya Onishi captured from ISS the Black Sea and Danube Delta (Delta Dunării). The image also shows cloud-hidden Crimea as well.
The Danube Delta, lying in Romania and Ukraine, is the second largest river delta in Europe, after the Volga Delta, and is the best preserved on the continent. In 1991, the delta became part of UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. Situated on major migratory routes, and providing adequate conditions for nesting and hatching, the Danube Delta is a magnet for birds from six major ecoregions of the world. There are over 320 species of birds found in the delta during summer, and over one million individual birds winter here.
