ニジニ・ノヴゴロドは、ロシアを代表する大河、ヴォルガ川とオカ川とが合流するところにある自動車産業で有名な工業都市で、モスクワ、サンクトペテルブルク、ノヴォシビルスクに次ぐ、人口130万人のロシア第4の都市です。ソビエト連邦時代はこの地で生まれた文学者マクシム・ゴーリキーにちなみ、ゴーリキーと呼ばれました。

Здравствуйте! Astronaut Sergey Ryazansky captured from ISS Russia and beautiful aurora. The image shows Moscow (Москва́) with the largest light clusters to the left near side, Nizhny Novgorod (Ни́жний Но́вгород) to the right near side and Saint Petersburg (Санкт-Петербу́рг) to the left far end.

Nizhny Novgorod is located about 400km east of Moscow, where the Oka empties into the Volga River. With 1.3 million population, the city is an important economic, transportation, scientific, educational and cultural center in Russia and the vast Volga-Vyatka economic region, and is the main center of river tourism in Russia. The city was also known as Gorky (Горький), after the writer Maxim Gorky, who was born there.

The local scenery of beautiful Nizhny Novgorod on the ground is as follows.
