[:ja]ランディ・ブレズニク宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したニュージーランドのクイーンズタウンです。
クイーンズタウンは、ニュージーランド南島のオタゴ地方の内陸、ワカティプ湖畔に面した町です。周囲の山々に囲まれたその美しさが「ヴィクトリア女王にふさわしい」と名づけられたことに由来し、世界的に有名な観光地です。1862年に、ショットオーバー川で金脈が発見されて以来、町は急速に発展し人口も数千人に増え、金脈が尽きると人口は数百人に激減。その後は高原の避暑地のようなたたずまいで様々なアクティビティの拠点になっており、バンジージャンプ発祥の地としても有名です。世界遺産でもあるフィヨルドランド国立公園にあるミルフォード・サウンドへ向かう観光客も多いです。

Queenstown, as named by the gold miners especially the Irish honor of Queen Victoria in 1850, is the origin of bungy jumping and is known for various forms of adventurous tourism. The town is built around on Lake Wakatipu, a long thin Z-shaped lake formed by glacial processes, and has views of nearby mountains such as The Remarkables. The city is heavily used for tourist ‘flightseeing’, especially to Milford Sound and Mount Cook.
