[:ja]ジョセフ・アカバ宇宙飛行士がISSから地球へ帰還する直前に撮った、自身の故郷のプエルトリコです。
アカバ宇宙飛行士は2004年5月、プエルトリコ系として初めて宇宙飛行士の候補となり、NASA Astronaut Training Group 19のメンバーに選ばれました。今回は3度目の飛行で、故郷に想いを馳せ、写真を撮影したのが印象的です。
プエルトリコは、カリブ海北東に位置するアメリカ合衆国の自治的・未編入領域で、コモンウェルスという政治的地位にあります。北部は雨が多く熱帯雨林が形成されており、南部は乾燥しサバナが形成されている火山島です。ラム酒生産、観光、製薬、農漁業などが主な収入源ですが、特に観光業の占める割合は大きく、アメリカ合衆国に移住したプエルトリカンの送金も大きな収入源です。
「ラ・フォルタレサとサン・フアン歴史地区（1983年、文化遺産）」が世界遺産で、これはプエルトリコにおける政府官邸であり、新世界における最古の行政部の建築物です。地上の様子はこちらです。

Just before returning to Earth from ISS, Astronaut Joseph Acaba captured beautiful night view of Puerto Rico, his hometown.
In 2004 he became the first person of Puerto Rican heritage to be named as a NASA astronaut candidate, when he was selected as a member of NASA Astronaut Training Group 19.
Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the northeast Caribbean Sea. The climate of Puerto Rico is tropical rainforest and is warm to hot year round.
Its economy is mainly driven by manufacturing followed by the service industry such as tourism.
La Fortaleza (The Fortress) is the current official residence of the Governor of Puerto Rico which was listed by UNESCO in 1983 as part of the World Heritage Site “La Fortaleza and San Juan National Historic Site”. The local scenery on the ground is as follows.
