[:ja]セルゲイ・リャザンスキー宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したソマリアの首都モガディシュ近郊の海岸です。画像の茶色い部分は岩、黄色い部分は砂の海岸です。
バーレ政権時代の最盛期には社会主義の名の下強力な軍事独裁が敷かれ、治安は比較的安定していましたが、首都モガディシュを除くほぼすべての地域を掌握できていませんでした。1991年勃発の内戦により国土は分断され、1992年にバーレ大統領が国外追放されてからは事実上の無政府状態が続き、2012年、2017年には新政府の大統領選挙が行われています。

Astronaut Sergey Ryazansky captured from ISS the coast south of capital, Mogadishu, Somalia. The brown part of the image shows rocks and the yellow sands expand to the ocean.
In 1991, long continued Barre administration was ousted by a coalition of clan-based opposition groups, backed by Ethiopia’s then-ruling Derg regime and Libya. Since then the country had no central government and civil war continued until 2012 when the first permanent central government was established.
The local scenery on the ground is as follows.
