アマゾンは世界最大の面積及び流域面積を誇る熱帯雨林大です。この豊かな森林は、地球の全生物の10%の住処となっており、この地域で見つかる植物の75%は地域固有のものです。しかし、今日では、既に森林の20%が失われ、この森林伐採の傾向が続けば、現在以上の異常気象などが引き起こされる可能性があると懸念されています。

The Amazon is the world’s largest rainforest and the largest river basin on the planet. The region is believed to be home to 10% known species on Earth. Of plant species found in this region, 75% are unique to the Amazon. Today, the Amazon is facing a multitude of threats as a result of unsustainable economic development; 20% of the Amazon biome has already been lost and the trend will worsen if gone unchecked.
