[Earthview Wonders] No.671: Réunion Island🇷🇪
Astronaut Sergey Ryazansky captured from ISS Réunion Island, the overseas departments and regions of France, an island in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar, with a population of about 900,000.

The island has been inhabited since the 16th century, when people from France and Madagascar settled there. The official language is French and the majority of the region’s population speaks Réunion Creole. The Piton de la Fournaise (2,631m), a shield volcano on the eastern end of Réunion Island, has erupted more than 100 times since 1640, and is under constant monitoring. The climate in Réunion is tropical, but temperature moderates with elevation. Sugar was traditionally the chief agricultural product and export, and tourism is now an important source of income.
The local scenery on the ground is as follows.
