[:ja]デービッド・サンジャック宇宙飛行士がISSから撮影したカナリア諸島です。
カナリア諸島は、アフリカ大陸の北西沿岸に近い大西洋上にある、7つの島からなるスペイン領の群島です。島名はグラン・カナリア島のラテン語名「Insula Canaria（「犬の島」の意）」に由来します。経済基盤は主に観光と熱帯農業で、収穫したバナナやタバコの輸出（ヨーロッパ、アメリカ）です。イギリスやドイツなど主にヨーロッパから年間約1000万人の観光客が訪れます。高い山々と澄んだ空があるので望遠鏡の設置にもふさわしい場所です。ラ・パルマ島のロケ・デ・ロス・ムチャーチョス山にはロケ・デ・ロス・ムチャーチョス天文台（グラン・テカン天文台）があります。

Astronaut David Saint-Jacques captured from ISS the Canary Islands.
The Canary Islands is a Spanish archipelago and the southernmost autonomous community of Spain located in the Atlantic Ocean, 100 kilometres west of Morocco at the closest point. The precipitation levels and the level of maritime moderation vary depending on location and elevation. Green areas as well as desert exist on the archipelago. Due to their location above the temperature inversion layer, the high mountains of these islands are ideal for astronomical observation. For this reason, two professional observatories, Teide Observatory on the island of Tenerife and Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on the island of La Palma, have been built on the islands.
