アブダビは、アラビア半島のアラビア湾岸に位置する、アラブ首長国連邦を構成する首長国です。アラビア湾に突き出たT字型の半島部を中心とした地形で、アラブ首長国連邦の中でも最大の面積、人口、収入を持ちます。特に面積6.7万km2は連邦全体の8.3万km2の大半（約80%）に及び、広大な国土に埋蔵された豊富な石油資源によって連邦の政治、経済を支える事実上のリーダー国です。アラブ首長国連邦のGDPの15%を産し、アブダビ証券取引所やアラブ首長国連邦中央銀行、アブダビ投資庁、大手通信会社のエティサラート、国営石油会社のADNOC、アブダビ海上操業会社(ADMA-OPCO)などもここにあります。

Hazzaa Ali Almansoori, the UAE’s first astronaut, overviewed his mother country and commented, “Despite being miles away, my heart longed for the warmth of this land.” The photo also shows 8 Gulf countries, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Quatar, UAE and Oman.
Abu Dhabi is the capital and the second most populous city of the United Arab Emirates (the most populous being Dubai). It is the largest of the UAE’s seven emirates and also capital of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi’s rapid development and urbanisation, coupled with the massive oil and gas reserves and production, and relatively high average income of its population, have transformed the city into a large and advanced metropolis. Today, the city is the country’s center of political and industrial activities, and a major cultural and commercial centre, due to its position as the capital. Abu Dhabi accounts for about two-thirds of the roughly $400 billion UAE economy.
