ケベック・シティーは4つの都市の東端にあります。セントローレンス川が、ダイアモンド岬と、対岸のレヴィとに接近した地点で狭まっていることから、先住民アルゴンキン族の言葉で「川が狭くなっているところ」を意味する「ケベック」という名前になりました。他の3都市もか川沿いに発展しました。

Quebec City is the capital city of the Canadian province of Quebec. The Algonquian people had originally named the area Kébec, an Algonquin word meaning “where the river narrows”, because the Saint Lawrence River narrows proximate to the promontory of Quebec and its Cape Diamant. Explorer Samuel de Champlain founded a French settlement here in 1608, and adopted the Algonquin name. Other 3 cities are also developed on the river.
