[Earthview Wonders] No.952: Bangkok at Night🇹🇭
Astronaut Jessica Meir captured from ISS Bangkok, the capital of Thailand and squid fishing lights.

The history of Bangkok dates back to the early 15th century, when it was a village on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, under the rule of Ayutthaya. In 1782, King Rama I succeeded Taksin, moved the capital to the eastern bank’s Rattanakosin Island, thus founding the Rattanakosin Kingdom. Bangkok’s rapid growth with little urban planning and regulation has resulted in a haphazard cityscape, inadequate infrastructure systems and severe air pollution in 1990’s. In recent years the city has since turned to public transport in an attempt to solve these major issues. Also, fishermen use green lights to attract plankton and fish, the preferred diet of squid which is active at night.
The local scenery on the ground is as follows.
