[:ja]NASAとESAの地球観測衛星AuraとSentinel-5が撮影した中国東北部の大気汚染の改善の様子です。2020年1月1日から2月25日までに大気中の二酸化窒素NO2の濃度が急減しており、これは新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大に伴う経済活動の低下によるものと考えられます。NASAの研究者によると、二酸化窒素の濃度はまずは武漢市から低下し、その後中国の他の地域にも広がったとされています。

NASA’s Aura and ESA’s Sentinel-5 captured the improved status of air pollution in the north-eastern China. The satellites have detected significant decreases in nitrogen dioxide (NO2) over China. There is evidence that the change is at least partly related to the economic slowdown following the outbreak of coronavirus. According to NASA scientists, the reduction in NO2 pollution was first apparent near Wuhan, but eventually spread across the country.
