Gold Coast is a major tourist destination with its sunny subtropical climate and has become widely known for its surfing beaches, high-rise dominated skyline, theme parks, nightlife, and rainforest hinterland. The city consists of 70km of coastline with some of the most popular surf breaks in Australia and the world including Duranbah Beach. Duranbah Beach is well known by surfers for its surf break and large swell, it is recognized both nationally and internationally as having a powerful, high-quality surf break for both surfers and bodyboarders. Big surfing events have been staged there every year.
