[:ja]欧州宇宙機関ESAが撮影したドイツ第5の都市フランクフルトの南西のライン川です。画像右上には巨大なフランクフルト国際空港が見えます。
画像上からバイエルン州を水源とするマイン川が流れ、画像上方でライン川に合流します。中世以来、フランクフルトはドイツの中心都市の一つで、近代ではライン川の水の恵みにより、工業都市として発展してきました。現在は欧州大陸の国際金融、工業、産業の中心でもありますが、同国5位の都市とは意外です。

ESA captured Rhine River, south west of Germany’s major city Frankfurt. You can see Frankfurt Airport, one of the busiest airports in Europe.
From the upper right corner flows River Main which joins River Rhine in the middle. Since the Middle Ages, Frankfurt has been the center of Germany. Blessed with water resources, Frankfurt has developed as one of the major industrial cities, and now the financial center of the European Continent. It is surprising, however, the city is only the fifth largest in Germany.
