[:ja]NASAの地球観測衛星Suomi NPPが撮影した、インドネシアのジャワ島です。
ジャワ島はユーラシアプレートにインド・オーストラリアプレートがもぐりこむプレート境界の傍に位置するため、地震多発地帯であり、火山も多いです。画像では、日中に暖められた空気がバレーウィンド（谷風）によって火山地帯に沿って上昇し、冷やされ、雲が形成されています。
インドネシアは5,110kmと東西に非常に長く、赤道にまたがる1万3,466もの大小の島により構成される、世界最多の島嶼を抱える国です。また、人口は2億6,000万人を超える世界第4位の規模であり、また世界最大のイスラム人口国としても知られています。

NASA’s Suomi NPP satellite captured Java Island of Indonesia.
Java Island is located near the Eurasian and Indo-Australia Plates and is in the region with frequent earthquakes and volcano activities. The image shows clouds formed over mountains of Java Island as a result of a meteorological phenomenon “valley wind”. During the day, the Sun warms the air in the valleys and by afternoon causes it to rise up the slopes of the mountains. As the warm, moist air rises, it cools and condenses into clouds over the volcanoes.
Indonesia is 5,110km long in the east-west direction, and has 13,466 small islands. The country has population over 260 million and is the world’s 4th largest population country.
