バンコクは人口8百万人、都市圏人口は1500万人を超える世界有数の大都市圏を形成している東南アジア屈指の世界都市です。世界35位の経済規模を有し、東南アジアでは、シンガポール、ジャカルタに次ぐ都市圏です。2014年に軍事クーデターが起こし、憲法と議会を廃止し実権掌握以降、軍事独裁政権が継続しています。

Bangkok has over 8 million and 15 million within the surrounding metropolitan region. The city has 35th largest economy in the world after Singapore and Jakarta in the ASEAN region. Thailand is a constitutional monarchy and has switched between parliamentary democracy and military junta for decades, the latest coup being in May 2014 by the National Council for Peace and Order.
