[Earthview Wonders][Video] No.860: Amazon Deforestation🇧🇷
Astronaut Luca Parmitano captured from ISS the change of Amazon jungle. The video starts out with green jungle and reaches the brownish fields human beings exploited of natural resources. The cattle sector of the Brazilian Amazon, incentivized by the international beef and leather trades, has been responsible for about 80% of all deforestation in the region, or about 14% of the world’s total annual deforestation, making it the world’s largest single driver of deforestation. According to 2018 satellite data compiled by a deforestation monitoring program called Prodes, deforestation has hit its highest rate in a decade. About 7,900km2 of the rainforest was destroyed between August 2017 and July 2018.
