[:ja]毎年6月17日は「砂漠化および干ばつと闘う世界デー」（World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought）です。ルカ・パルミタノ宇宙飛行士が昨年ISSから撮影したサハラ砂漠の画像の投稿しましたが、砂は風に巻き上げられ、簡単に数百km遠方まで運ばれるとコメントしています。植生がないと砂漠は容易に進んでしまいます。
