[:ja]ISSから大西宇宙飛行士が撮影した、宇宙から見える飛行機雲です。飛行機雲は普通は見上げるものですから、見下ろす視点というのは面白いですね。これはモンゴルの首都ウランバートル付近です。
ちなみに、過去にも No.62: 宇宙から見た飛行機雲 でも飛行機雲の画像を紹介しました。
「飛行機雲はエンジンから出る排気ガスが作り出す雲です。飛行機のエンジンがマイナス40℃以下の外気を吸い込んで、圧縮・燃焼させ、300~600℃となった排気ガスを出すと、その中の水分が急に冷やされて凍り、雲となって白く見えます。冬の寒い日に息を吐くと、白くなるのと同じですね。」

Astronaut Onishi captured this contrail over Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Jet contrail is usually something you look up to spot, and this inverted perspective is interesting.
