Wildfire spread across Alberta, Canada🇨🇦 has blazed 1,600+ houses and 280,000+ hectres of land, with more than 80,000 people forced to evacuate, a depth of the damage unprecedented. With new fires emerging, this natural disaster is an “ongoing” event.
NASA’s meteorological satellite NOAA provides the following images from which fire smoke is visibly recognizable.
The following Narrower image clearly shows the harshly blazed brown-red area, with two unextinguished active fires.
Alberta has many oilsand(petroleum deposit in tar form) mine sites which had reduced production but now the wildfire forced evecuation of 19 camps. The reduced production lead to an oil price hike in the short term, but more serious influence is forecast with extensive damage to residents, CO2 absorption and ecosystem in the mid-long term.
